on lockdown. we have reaction from president obama. first a look at what happened from lieutenant general robert in fort hood. >> at 30:30 hours today a shooter entered what we call the soldier readiness facility where soldiers who are preparing to deploy go for last- minute medical checkups and dental treatment. shooter opened fire. due to the quick response of the police forces was killed. >> it is difficult enough when we loose these brave americans in battles overseas. it is horrifying that they should come under fire at an army base on american soil. >> reporter: schools on the base were also put on lockdown. parents have been unable to get their children. other army bases around the country increased security but fort hood is the only base on a full lockdown. fort hood is the largest active duty armored post in the united states. home to about 52,000 troops as of earlier this year. >> stay with for continuing coverage of the mass shooting at fort hood. we will continue to follow this story. when we get updates we will bring them to you. you can get continuing updays on
